….. and we’re back!
My apologies for the unannounced (and, to be fair, unplanned) hiatus from which I now find myself emerging. Quite frankly, nearly three semesters of fully online college pushed me to a point where I just couldn’t bring myself to stare at a laptop for anything I wasn’t being graded on, and that included writing.
But! Things are changing quickly, and I’m ready to buckle back down - for real this time. That being said, Nightswimming is going to look a little different moving forward than it did for its first eight iterations. The structure is going to be a whole lot looser, for starters. As much as I enjoyed the strict format of the previous editions, it quickly became a thorn in my side in actually sitting down to get things written. I’d rather use this newsletter as a means to share the music that’s actually on my mind and let that guide my decision-making as to the format.
The other big difference will be that Nightswimming is shifting to a biweekly publication. Between school, work, life, and the other writing I do, a newsletter every week was just slightly too lofty a goal. I’m confident I can manage every two weeks, however, and I think that each issue will be better for it. The first installment of Volume II will be published on Sunday, August 29, 2021, and things will kick off from there.
Keep your ears peeled, I’ll see you on the 29th.
